standalone insallation

A default mental ray Standalone for windows installation will be described. This is a condensed overview of the installation process. For complete and detailed instructions refer to the printed document "Installing mental ray 3.3" or the online  "mental ray installation and licensing guide".

Installing mental ray 3.3

Prerequisite Steps:

• Stop Maya and any license server processes.

• Make sure you meet the Installation requirements.

• License server only: Install the hardware lock (dongle) on an available COM (serial) / USB port.

• Insert the mental ray 3.3 software CD.

Installation - follow the instructions on the screen - choose Complete or Custom

Now that the software is installed, we need to license it.

For my home machine I used Floating server

With the dongle attached and dongle type set to AWO (Alias) hit NEXT >
